Just returned from a week in Zimbabwe, the place I was born (a long time ago!). What an awesome trip.
The reason for the trip was to go up for my cousin Tara's (Tammy to me!) wedding. It was really cool of Ant and Tara to delay their honeymoon and book 26 other people on a houseboat on Kariba. It is a very embarrassing fact that, before this trip, I a born (but not bred) Zimbo, had never even seen the lake let alone spent a week drinking on it!
Well this trip definitely made up for that and I am sure it won't be the last. Plans are already being made for Easter next year.
It was my first time on Kariba and this led to me catching my first fish (actually 2) as well as my first game of "Dorp Properly" (actually 2). "Dorp Properly" for those uninitiated is similar to monopoly exept you drink when you buy property and you drink when you land on other people's property! It is a hiding to nothing. Stellenbosch definitely needs a version of this game.
Will try post some pictures of the trip later.
